About the event
Welcome back! We have a lot of good information for you this year and are excited about bring you our 2023 continued education program (For 2024 license renewal year). This years CE classes will cover life safety requirements found in the NC Residential Building Code with a focus on fire resistant construction and means of egress requirements. We have been actively involved and contributing to the development of the next code cycle which will become effective on January 1st, 2025. So soon we will be offering code change classes to prepare you for the 2024 NC codes which should be out in print sometime mid 2024.Ā
At this time, our classes are 8 hours providing our board approved 4-hour and 2-hour elective classes (see below) Ā and the 2-hour NCLBGC mandatory class. Any NC Building Code Official attending these classes will also receive 6 hours of Building CE for their standard certificate (dual credit-NCCOQB course approval CS#4768).Ā Upon successful completion of our 8-hour session, credits will be uploaded to the NC General Contractors Board site with the qualifier number provided and certificates of completion will be emailed. Please proved an accurate email when registering to ensure proper delivery of your certificate.
2 HOUR ELECTIVE: Fire Resistant Construction (2018 NCRBC R302)
During this course we will discuss the following:ā
- Fire separation distance
- Dwelling unit separations
- Fire resistant penetrations
- Dwelling/Garage separation
- Under-stair protection
- Fireblocking
- Draftstopping
4 HOUR ELECTIVE: Means of Egress & Amendments (2018 NCRBC R310, R311, R312)
During this course we will discuss the following:
- R310- Emergency Escape and Rescue Openings
- R311- Means of Egress (General)
- R312- Guard Requirements
- 2023 Building Code Amendments Effective 1-1-2023
Registration/check-in begins at 7:15 am and class will begin promptly at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. The class includes 50 minutes of instruction with a 10 minute break every hour and lunch from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Lunch will be provided for all in person classes. Attendees must be present in class during all instruction periods in order to receive CE credit.
If attendance requirement is not met, credits will not be issued and no refunds will be given. Upon entry, you will be asked to present a valid picture ID and your NCLBGC QUALIFIER NUMBER. The qualifier number is a different # than a GC License number so please make sure you have the correct number upon entry into the class. You can find your QUALIFIER NUMBER at nclbgc.org. QUALIFIER NUMBERS must be verified to ensure you receive proper credit for the class. We will submit your credits to the NCLBGC upon successful completion of the class however give us a couple days to process this information.
